I just got an Acekard 2 and so far my emulator search is not the best. It's for a DSI and I haven't even found a good Nintendo or SNES emulator. Ideally, I want NES, SNES, Sega and Gameboy Advance emulators. No rush, my PSP already plays all four but I'd like to get the DS on par incase the PSP breaks at some point.

I also want to get ROM copies of games I already own for DS. Could use a Rom site link, or just the specific roms. If necessary, for moral thumpers, I'll throw up a pic of my DS game collection with me in it and the site on the laptop in the background.

The games for DS are Dragon Quest 4 and 5 and nine, the three Castlevania Titles, Final Fantasy 3 and 4, New Super Mario Bros, and I honestly don't care about the other games I own. Need to get a few other good DS titles still, but not exactly made of money. More worried about buying Fist of the North Star: Kens Rage this week.

Here are what I believe to be the best NES, SNES and GBC emulators for DS. I zipped the three of them up into one nice little package for you.

If you have any problems with them, let me know and I can help troubleshoot. The NES and GBC ones are great. When playing RPG's make sure you test the saving of SRAM so you know how it works.

I have played a bit of DQ5 on the SNES emulator but the bigger the ROM, the crappier the emulation. You'll find that DQ6 and DQ3 are not playable in the SNES emulator. Smaller, older games are fine though. This doesn't depend on the emulator, but rather the hardware of the DS. It can't handle ROM's larger than 4MB which leads me to my next point for you:

There are no slot-1 GBA emulators for the DS. Once again, this is a hardware limitation. It needs to go through slot-2 (which doesn't exist for a DSi). As far as I am aware, there is no way around that.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the link. Downloaded, but have to leave ASAP unfortunately or I'd test them now. Will get back to you tomorrow with feedback. Also, thank you for the message, replied withb requested picture. Throwing picture up here as well to avoid other requests if other people have useful stuff.

The biggest problem I have with the emulators is the resolution. The DS only have a resolution of 256x192 while the NES and SNES have a resolution of 256x240. What this means is the emulator has to cram 240 vertical lines in only 196 and in most cases this does not look nice. The 3DS will have a resolution of 800x240 pixels (400x240 pixels per eye) on the top screen and 320x240 on the bottom which will be a lot better.

Oh sweet. I hadn't heard what the actual resolution was going to be. I wonder how long it will be before there are flash carts and homebrew apps for the 3DS.

Sorry, I don't know much about Slot-2 cards and I certainly don't know of any emulators that are specific to Slot-2.

Why is that? Just curious. I haven't seen them compared directly before so this should be interesting.

Acekards are bootlegs that aren't supported and same for R4s.
Supercards seem to be pretty popular and good, same with M3s.
