Remember Zenithian from Slime Knights? Well, he's got a new business that all of you 8-bit and 16-bit fans and collectors will be interested in! We all love our old games, but those lithium coin cell batteries used to save all those hard-earned hours eventually run out of juice. So what's a fan to do? Simple - just send them to Zenithian!

Applying his background as an electrical assembly technician, he'll revive your favorite titles and then some! More than just a simple battery replacement, he's developed a new solution that won't damage your game in any way and makes future replacements easy!

Here's a quick rundown of the process - games with a failed battery undergo a professional, Class-3 electronics standard retrofit on the affected circuit board. This retrofit not only replaces your old battery with a fresh, new one, but so allows you to replace them at anytime in the future by picking up a Phillips-head screwdriver and sliding in a new battery. Combining this retrofit with proper care and storage, your battery backed games can conceivably last as long as you do!

He has all the skills and tools necessary to do a professional job. The cost is $6 per game plus shipping for quantities less than 10. Lower rates are available on a sliding scale for bulk orders (contact for details). He'll take care of the return shipping for you, and if that wasn't enough, he'll even perform a professional cleaning of the game board and gold-plated contacts at no additional cost, further extending lifespan and reliability! He uses a special product that he personally researched and tested to remove all those built up contaminates and impurities - even some types that rubbing alcohol can't take out. If you'd just like to have your game professionally cleaned, this service is $2 per game. All parts and labor related to the retrofit are guaranteed for one year.

For more details, including payment options and shipping information, just contact Zenithian via this forum. Happy retro gaming!

;) If only he could repair consoles like SNES and N64, I'd call on him big time for that. Though I wish him epic luck with his new enterprise.

Thanks for your kind words, Slime Master. So...repair on SNES and N64 consoles, you say? Hmmm...I hadn't anticipated demand for such services. I'll tell you what - PM me with your current situation regarding either/both consoles, and I'll see what I can do. With all the repair/replacement parts available on the internet, there should be theoretically no reason why I couldn't work on those, in addition to other consoles as well. I may very well have to expand this operation of mine to accommodate console repair as well

Also, to Slime Master and everybody else out there on Dragon's Den: if you have any comments or questions, feel free to ask here as well. My intention is to satisfy a number of inquiries so that a general FAQ can be compiled by either myself or Woodus. Don't be shy, ask away!

Healie, I did some quick research, and it looks like Gameboy and Gameboy Color carts come factory installed with CR2025 lithium coin cells, and can also accommodate CR2032 batteries as well...which I just so happen to have in plentiful supply! As an added bonus to using CR2032 batteries, you'll end up getting a lot more save time with them over CR2025 coin cells, due to the CR2032's higher capacity. Anyhow, PM me with a general run-down of your GBC situation, and we'll work something out. I would prohibitively say I'd be able to apply a similar (if not identical) solution to Gameboy and Gameboy Color carts, as I would for NES/SNES/N64 games.

I most certainly can, Eccadairius! All you have to do is send me a PM with order details, including your shipping address and the title(s) of the game(s) to have battery replacement.

On a side note, I am very pleased with the responses and questions I have been receiving thus far! I am glad to be of service :wd_coolslime:

Just a quick reminder to those who are interested in battery replacement services: in case you missed it in the first post, all battery replacement services are $6 per game for quantities under 10. I cut a discount for larger quantities on a per-order basis.

In addition to the battery replacement and game cleaning, I am also researching the feasibility of console/portable repair. If you have any questions about getting one of your consoles/portables repaired, please PM me with your situation, and I'll address it on a case-by-case basis. If it turns out I can expand - and I would think this is likely for NES/SNES/Genesis/N64 - then I will provide information regarding that as soon as possible. Thank you for your support, and keep those questions coming!

Sorry Plat, but discounts are available for order quantities over 10. And don't forget, to find a service like this (if you can find one at all), you'll be paying a lot more than $6 per game regardless.

Shipping your game to me costs as much as you want to spend. I don't require that you use any particular method to get your game out to me; if you want to go the most inexpensive route, I would recommend sending your game via. USPS Media Mail. Depending where you live, your game could take anywhere from a few days to a week to get to me, though if speed isn't an issue to you, then that would be the cheapest way to go. As for return shipment, I cover the costs and re-use your packaging. Hope that clears things up! :)
