  2. What's New with you?

Viz has pulled every Rurouni Kenshin manga from the free section of its site. This is a big deal and very telling. Will the physical and digital versions you have to buy be next?

  4. What's New with you?

*remembers that she still has unbeaten dq2 gbc save* I remember discussing the issue of translating DQ to russian with a guy once (his vk.com page got nuked and I don't know any other contacts of his), and we decided to make Sidoh female cause it works for some reason (other than his name is "supposed" to start with "shi"). There were also name manglings aplenty.
  5. What's New with you?

Supposedly Sidoh/Malroth is stronger in the GBC (and SNES) version of the game. From the times I've played DQ2 his battle script for the GBC version can either be easy to deal with or he can wreck you no problem. Heck I remember one time I decided to re-fight him right after beating the game, and he destroyed me in 3 turns.
  6. What's New with you?

Dunno, this is the first time I've beat DQ2. Erik (Lorasia) was 40, Lars (Cannock) was late 30s, and Beth (Moonbrooke) was late 20s.
  7. Change Signatures

You should be able to now. They changed it to a per group settings, it is under account setting now.
  8. Forums Back Online

I'm liking the theme option. The black background, even though posts are white, sure cut the eye hurt. In fact, the white on black looks pretty good! If only Facebook wasn't the tiring bright page it was. No joke, it makes me sleepy.
  9. Change Signatures

I cannot for the life of me find out how to change my signature. Don't see it anywhere under profile.
  10. What's New with you?

GBC? Overpowered or was he just having a bad day?
  11. Forums Back Online

I can't seem to find the option to edit my signature. Anyone find this yet?
  12. What's New with you?

EDIT: Well, that was surprisingly short. Sidoh didn't put up much of a fight. He didn't even try to heal himself. Battle over in less than 10 turns.
  13. Music stuck in your head?

    Oops, wrong thread
  14. What's New with you?

I have an inverted version of your schedule: 2 PM to 11 PM. If I ended up getting an early shift and didn't take the day off at my other job, I would legit probably die, working from 1-9, then 10-5. Then both jobs the next day.
  15. What's New with you?

Dusk, your cool. You seem a lot more assertive with your opinions(at least over text, which you mentioned is itself problem when communicating) than most people, and I don't think that's a bad thing, maybe some people(me) feel a little wierd when talking to you, cause you really don't give an inch a lot of times, but I know you don't mean to edge out an argument just to feel better than people(I wonder how sigh guy's doing these days)or anything like that(wait no I don't). Course you've done nothing to wrong me though, and I hope I won't live to a day where I throw away that respect you've got for me and everyone else. You're a good person in my book, and since your cautious not to cross anybody, at least as far as the Den goes (SF an GFAQS to a lesser extent), I'll try to let you know if you may be taking things to far, and that's a promise from me.
  16. Etrian Odyssey Discussion Thread

The grinding process has begun. I got my main party up to level 99, retired all of them (but re-created the exact same characters) and am now leveling them all back to level 99 for the increased stat bonuses and skill points. It's not my ideal plan, but after 20 attempts at the super boss...yeah, I'm willing to go through it for extra stats and skill points. Everything helps with the super bosses in this series, and going through skill sets again I think I have a new idea how to build my party for the boss. Something that will give me a better shot to deal a lot of damage and keep my party alive.
  17. Music stuck in your head?

Been struggling with the super boss, so this theme has been stuck in my head. As a bonus, have the arranged and FM Synth versions. My favorite of the two is the FM Synth version.
  18. What's New with you?

I have to work 2 AM to 11 AM on Friday. The good thing is this year I don't have to go to two Thanksgiving dinners, so at least it will be easier to go to bed early.
  19. What's New with you?

You put it like that, and I can't really disagree there. Sometimes the most simply stated things resonate the strongest. That out of the way, something needs to be said. I know tone is difficult to convey through text at times, but that can be extremely problematic for people. I like everyone here, but I also deeply respect you all, and because I do, I have to know one thing. If any of you feel as if you can't freely speak about something without risk of being personally challenged on it in a mean way, tell me, please. Sometimes it may be accidentally, or sometimes I'll be too blunt, but I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I'd rather leave the site than do that, because none of you deserve that. And if I've already done someone wrong and didn't notice, I deeply apologize.
  20. What's New with you?

I guess the simpler way of saying it is that, for me, to give praise to art is to praise the artist. You can praise bad men for a lot of other aspects of their character, but that doesn't mean you should. Watsuki is a bad man, and I don't want to have anything good to say about him if I can.
  21. What's New with you?

I can show you a post (possibly just a trolling one, but still) of someone trying to defend this guy. There is no defense of this, only disappointment.
  22. What's New with you?

Okay, I can see where you're coming from. For me, as my opinion for humanity keeps dropping, I start slicing things up into neat little parts in order to separate the bad from the good. Too much darkness in the world, but I can't let what few light spots are left get tainted, if I can help it. It's probably a losing battle, but screw it, I'm gonna try. With regards to Kenshin, I really can't even judge it yet without watching it again, or reading the manga. At the very least, I gotta give the work a chance once more, to form a proper opinion on it as it stands now. @Platty: eal gets what I'm saying. It's not an attack on him, but an observation about this one specific thing. Doesn't affect how I view him, especially because I have my own glaring weaknesses. Everybody does.
  23. What's New with you?

At least this is just a discussion on whether or not we can remove the artist from the art. It's a totally different conversation on anime and manga forums. Lots of people jumping in with "innocent until proven guilty" and "well, how bad was it?" kind of responses when these stories pop up.
  24. What's New with you?

I know you don't, eal. I think you're like me and nothing people post online really insults you. I just don't want people getting too used to attacking others and their opinions over child porn. We're on slippery ground. We've done a good job not getting too political this past contentious year, let's not get too far in child porn discussions.
  25. What's New with you?

The issue is that the art IS the artist. You cannot look at any work besides the most cynical, base, generic piece of crap without seeing the creator behind it. The only person who could make, say, Goodnight Punpun was Inio Asano. Nobody else could have produced that exact work that exact way, trying to express those exact emotions, and it would not be the critical darling if it wasn't for him being the one who made it. And regardless of that, art should be an honest piece of self-expression, and the man we thought he was is very different from the man he truly is, which calls into question every aspect of his works. I've always felt that he's been trying to recapture the lightening in the bottle that Rurouni Kenshin was. Everything after it was a flop or poorly received, and he keeps coming back to Rurouni Kenshin. But why? Was it to tell stories that needed to be told, or was it for the money? The way I feel this way is because I come from a comic book background, where writers and artists go from series to series all the time. Where you follow creators from one book to the next. You develop an appreciation and respect for the names on the covers and what they're like as people and how their world-view reflects the way they write a story. EDIT: and I'm not taking it personally, Platty. I still think this is a civil discussion. In a lot of ways, I would consider it a weakness because it limits the what I can and cannot enjoy. I was looking forward to Rurouni Kenshin. I was speeding through what I was currently reading to get to it, but now I can't read it anymore.
  26. What's New with you?

Let's keep this civil. No need to say something is a personal weakness. I'm close to stopping this whole discussion if it can't stay civil.

Whoa that white blinded me for a sec there. Here's to a speedy recovery!
