Recommended Posts

I finally have created a website for DWC! Its only a wordpress and Its very simple and will greatly expanded upon in the future but it suits my needs right now :tounge2: .

Information available as of right now consists of equipment lists, item lists, and spells lists, screenshots, and downloads, but soon there will a full walk through of the game, maps, and monster list. So check back often!

Oh I will be sure to check back often. Kinda surprised I already got far enough to get almost all the equipment. Only took like 2 hours. XD

I don't know if woodus wants to change the font for this, but have you tried mapping the the beginning single-quote ( ' ) to the double-quote key ( " )? Or is the start quote in the Character Map? You could copy-paste from there. Sounds like a lot of work, but you seem to be looking into the minor details, so I thought I'd try to help solve this.

Also, Jamirus has a search button on the "controller" for his game, I wonder if his code could be applied to a menu option, and modified to search for different types of events, like "TALK", "TAKE", "SEARCH", "STAIRS", and "DOOR". If that would work, they could probably be added to a script like "Wortana's Lite Menu" to get an exact DW1 match. You should talk to Jamirus, I'd be willing to help with what I could but I know almost nothing about RGSS.

EDIT: Is there a reason that "SELL" is disabled in every shop weapon and armor shop?

Asides from the things mentioned above, and the battle screen (which I am also working on myself), the game is very authentic. Great job! It's also kept my attention for longer at one time than the original ever did, so points for that too. (Although, I haven't really had a chance to play the original since I was a little kid... I might have to pull out my mom's old NES soon, or at least find our working copy of the game and try it out in my FC Twin.)

Erdrick the Hero:

The speech quotes are a single (') because that's how they are in the original DWs.

And the brilliant/awesome/amazing/ingenious Jamiras has actually already helped me construct a new menu complete with STAIRS, SEARCH, DOOR, and TAKE options. It is the closest as we can get to the original using RPG Maker (at this point). That and other major additions/changes will be available when the first official version is released.

The reason the Sell option is blacked out is for the reason Indogutsu mentioned. Selling was only available at item shops and I wanted to stick with that. Until I find a way to retool the shopping menus, that's going to stay as is.

Woodus:

Don't worry about changing anything. MAYBE a slight alteration somewhere down the line but I'm not going to worry about it.

Indogutsu:

I wrote the music using FamiTracker. But the actual notes I first wrote out on a music composition program called Melody Assistant.

Thank you all for the feedback, comments, and compliments. They are all greatly appreciated :) .

Yeah, Jamirus is good at this stuff. Next weekend I'll try to take a crack at the battle backgrounds again, but I don't know if I'll have time. Could you send me you're current background script? That might help.

Edit: Will game overs be fixed with the official version? I think thats something Jamirus could help with if he doesn't mind. I actually have one of his "tech demos" with the script+common event somewhere.

I also saw somewhere a dq3-7 style stats box script that shows up after you stop moving for a while. It might be possible to edit it to fit dq1 style. If you want I can take a look, but it was awhile ago. (it might even be for RMXP, I don't remember for sure).

The script I use is simply for changing the background using variables for caves and overworld. I don't know how much help it'll be. Everything else is the default RPG Maker battle script.

Jamiras has already helped me with the game over as well  .

I wouldn't mind getting my hand on that script. Cause I still would like to status to pop up when not moving as well as I can use it for possible future projects.

I meant if you send it I might be able to show the map behind the battle windows.

I noticed you are missing a tile, and it stands out, at least to me. When you are on the world map the brick part of the stairs tile should use the grass/sand tile pallete (oddly the same pattern though). I have the tile on my tileset, I can send it to you or you can just copy it from the DW1 overworld tile map on the den. (that's how I got it). Again, just a minor detail. Dont't get me wrong, the game is amazing, I'm just trying to help out.

I'll take a look for that status window when I have a chance. If you want I can also try to retool the battle menus, but I can't promise I know what I'm doing :)

Edit: Check this out: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/1416-released-dragon-quest-style-status-indicator/

It includes Wortana's Lite Menu, which I assume is what yours is based off of because that is what Jamirus is using. I don't know for sure, but you could probably copy this into your current menu or delete the menu part, alter it slightly, and use as a seperate script.
