Terry’s Wonderland 3D

Recommended Posts

The site revealed a guide book which will be released simultaneously alongside the game in Japan on May 31st:

big2_000.jpg

It'll cost 1200 yen (roughly equivalent to $15)

I'll include the obvious things like a map of Great Tree, monster stats and scouting guide, ect.

It also says there's more than 550 in this game. (which is splitting hairs. Prior to this they claimed it was 500, then 600).

Thoughts?

It looks like Mischievous Mole is blue again (ew).

Ahaha, look at bjorn. He probably doesn't know what to do with himself.

As for that over 550 bit instead of 600, that still seems like a lot :P Maybe there are so many monsters they're having trouble keeping track of them all? Or maybe they've removed some after deciding to do a Pro version later on? Ahahaha, ahh... that'd be terrible of them.

It looks like Mischievous Mole is blue again (ew).

It might also be mad mole, yo. They really seem to be nutty with palette swaps this time around. Also, the mole monster had been blue for the first three monster games, I think. Not sure why they decided to switch over to the mischievous variety in Joker.

Only buy it if you want it right now or if you have a lot of money to spare. It is a V Jump Book. If it is like others, it will be more like a walkthrough with not many illustrations. You are better off waiting for the official Sqaure Enix guide, which should always be more complete.

Ha, it would be DQMJ2 all over.

=p

This time however I wouldn't be stubborn and not get the original version that gets released here. I've learned my lesson.

:P

And yeah, I hope it's just a palette swap. I think the reason they switched it in Joker was to make it more mole-like. I don't know about anyone else, but when I first played the original DWM as a kid I didn't know he had whiskers, and I thought he just had a giant frown and fangs on his abdomen.

I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when I saw the moles walking around on Infant Isle for the first time in Joker. It totally made me appreciate the original monster more after I understood what it was *supposed* to look like.

=p

Yeah, definitely.

The guide allegedly has 400 pages though, so I think it'll be pretty complete. I agree about the lack of illustrations though.

As has been said already, old Monsters had the blue "killer schop", while Joker has the "mischievious mole". Since this game will have all of those monsters, we should have both of them!

And one of my favorites, the super tentsuku. Its animation in one of the videos looks so cool!

Either that or he is going nuts while taking a very large poop while constipated.

The illustration file. Neither press site had the wonderful original art for Joker 2. This one better or there will be hell to pay.

Hell!

Oh, and I pooped twice today. Once in the morning, once at lunch. So I'm good.

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/05/02/transfer-that-dark-slime-from-dragon-quest-monsters-joker-2-into-terrys-wonderland-3d/

Looks like I got my question answered...

Ehhhhhhh might not good news. I really hope this doesn't give them a reason to make a lot of monsters unobtainable without transferring them.

This would be especially bad for people outside of Japan because we never got DQJ2P.

Glad to hear it. If I wake up before 7 I'll poop like, three times as much. Does that happen to anyone else?

Sounds good to me. Be nice to have something like Poole's stupid hacked-esque monsters, like that gripevine with Tactical Genius, or how hunter mechs inexplicably have Psycho when you fight them. Bah.

And doesn't Metal Body just provide a big deduction to physical damage? Mind, still an amazing ability to have. I'm wondering if these inherited trait monsters will be part of a league of their own? Not allowed in 'standard' fights and such?

Not worrying too much about the possibility of certain monsters being transfer only. That seems more like Pokeymanz schtick :P Will stink if that happens to some cool monsters, though.

My .Liquid Metal King Slime;... :heartslime: . I hope it's still obtainable in game...

My only worries is if some monsters are only created by DQMJ2 ou DQMJ2Pro exclusive.

Let's hope not

Says that you can pass on traits like Metal Body.

I guess it's the Light Metal Body skill from Pro : Halves Damage, but doubles MP consumption.

(The "Metal Slimes Only"'s Metal Body is Damage/3 with no Drawback)

...Just read the article again...

I think that it just confirms the return of X and XY Monsters, like in Pro, and not Transferable traits...

For example, in Pro, Snail Slime X snail_slime.png gained Early Bird and Snail Slime XY gained Light Metal Body.

Note entirely sure, but I wanna say no, yo. Chances are I could use more fiber.

Sure is a lot of stuff I'd like to know about Pro. I knew from watching some vids that they added new skills and traits, but that's about as far as it goes. I also wasn't aware that there were more X and XY monsters, I just thought they had rebalanced everything so lower ranked monsters were more useable. Would be nice to experience the stuff we missed in Pro in this game. The positive stuff, anyway :P

I imagine they'll be useable in-game with no restrictions, but banned in online/ wifi tournaments.

I seem to recall a handful of monsters being excluded from Pro, specifically Conclave (and thus Concubines, which needed Conclave to be synthesized). There weren't many, but I definitely remember some missing.

in any case, I might end up picking up DQMJ2 just in case TW3D has something *really* cool missing. I'll probably even get it in the likely case this gets revealed at E3 but we have a long period of time for it to be translated and released.

Anyway, I expect more details of the post-game ability system and the transfer system to make up the next Japanese site update, which should be coming early next week.

The most recent update on the site about the storyline bosses + references to other DQ games came from a Jump magazine a week prior as well iirc.

Your image doesn't seem to be showing up, yo :P Currently assuming you mean the three that attack Weaver's Peak / Lifecod.

And hadn't you posted a status update not too long ago? Just sayin'.

Those 3 were sooooo hard.

=(

I have no clue how I beat them. I don't even remember beating them, but apparently I did because I also remember fighting Jamirius.

Hopefully they'll be easier with the addition of an extra spot in the party and the addition of substitutes.

I am wondering what will happen to the single "foohero" if the tribe appears as well...

They seem to be going more Joker 2, and seeing as you can import your monsters from the games, I believe it will be the whole tribe.
