Architecturally speaking, the game boards for both Super Famicom and SNES game are quite similar. Also, the CR2032 lithium coin cell batteries are very likely used in both games, since that would've kept production costs down during manufacturing. Replacing the battery would be no problem at all. What I am concerned about is the game not booting at all. Typically, when a battery is missing, the game will otherwise function normally, but will not allow new save date, or retain old save data. It's possible the game was designed to not boot without a functioning battery, but I'd have to test for that to be certain. At this stage, I can certainly do a battery retrofit, but I can't guarantee that would also fix the no-boot problem.
I'll leave it up to you how you'd like to proceed.
By the time I remembered this Sub-forum existed, I had already purchased another copy. However, Since I got the non-working copy for about $8.00, I was thinking I could get it fixed and sell it for a profit.
How much would this cost in a worst-case scenario?
