Thanks to Deathtamoor for this info, and this info is from Dragon's Den forum post #17036. If you don't have the Kawasaki Locker map and you want all of the 1% items, don't worry you can still get them without the Kawasaki Locker + timer trick. It takes a little longer but with a special tool you can find out the location for each chest in any grotto and their respective ranks. First off, you have to decide if you are going to be a completionist or if you just want the strong weapons. If you are going to be a completionist then you will need to farm E to S rank chests, but if you just want the best stuff, then focus on the A and S rank chests. If you are done raiding chests for weapons and you are at the point where all you need is Agates of Evolution then you need to raid chests D to S. A and S ranks should be given the highest priority of course, but D ranks are the second most important since you can get an Astral Plume and Mystifying Mixture from them fairly often. Ranks C and B are okay but don't go out of your way to get them. For anything below E rank, ignore. Here are the contents of chest ranks E to S: Rank 5/E Chests 5% chance of Mimic ambush 15% each: Panacea, Magic Water, Narspicious 12% each: Mini Medal 10% each: Hephaestus' Flame, Finessence, Aggressence 1% each: Brouhaha Boomstick, Thug's Mug, Maid's Mop, Muscle Belt, Maid Outfit, Dangerous Bustier, Toughie Trousers, Thug Boots Rank 6/D Chests 10% chance of Mimic ambush 15% each: Gleeban Guinea, Hephaestus' Flame, Mystifying Mixture 10% each: Mini Medal, Astral Plume, Mythril Ore 6% each: Densinium 1% each: Hela's Hammer, Demon Whip, Oh-no Bow, Hades' Helm, Riotous Wristbands, Fingerless Gloves, Veteran's Gloves, Blessed Boots, Skull Ring Rank 7/C Chests 10% chance of Mimic ambush 15% each: 880 gold, Mini Medal 10% each: Sage's Elixir, Saint's Ashes, Densinium, Lucida Shard 6% each: Perfect Panacea 2% each: Unhappy Hat, Depressing Shoes 1% each: Ruinous Shield, Skull Helm, Veteran's Armour, Divine Dress, Matador's Gloves, Trinity Tights, Veteran's Boots, Combat Boots, Spellspadrilles, She-mage Shoes Rank 8/B Chests 5% chance of Pandora's Box ambush 15% each: 1500 gold, Mini Medal, Gleeban Gold Piece 13% each: Mythril Ore, Enchanted Stone 10% each: Sage's Elixir 5% each: Gold Bar 1% each: Pruning Knife, Hero Spear, Heavy Hatchet, Megaton Hammer, Beast Claws, Wizardly Whip, Attribeauty, Pentarang, Wyrmwand Rank 9/A Chests 10% chance of Pandora's Box ambush 15% each: Mini Medal 10% each: 3000 gold, Gleeban Gold Piece, Sage's Elixir, Astral Plume, Ethereal Stone, Reckless Necklace 8% each: Orichalcum 1% each: Metal Slime Sword, Metal Slime Spear, Metal Slime Shield, Metal Slime Helm, Metal Slime Armour, Metal Slime Gauntlets, Metal Slime Sollerets Rank 10/S Chests 15% chance of Pandora's Box ambush 15% each: Sage's Elixir 10% each: Gleeban Gold Piece, Evac-u-bell, Sainted Soma, Reset Stone 8% each: Yggdrasil Leaf 5% each: Gold Bar, Orichalcum 1% each: Stardust Sword, Deft Dagger, Poker, Bad Axe, Groundbreaker, Knockout Rod, Dragonlord Claws, Gringham Whip, Angel's Bow, Critical Fan, Meteorang, Bright Staff What constitutes a good grotto for treasure farming? At least 2 S rank chests and 2 A rank chests is the bare minimum for everyone. Do not farm in Ruins grottoes because they have too many narrow passageways with too many annoying enemies such as Boa Bishop, Octagoon, and Cyber Spider. When you are doing a treasure raid, you want to avoid as many fights as possible. So use Vanish once you get in and try to avoid as many enemies as you can. Only do a Ruins grotto if you get a very high amount of S rank chests, like 5 of them or something like that. I should also mention that if you want to get good quality grottoes, then at least revocate your hero in the same vocation three times and get him or her back to Lv 99 again. You can get the highest quality grottoes by revocating your hero 7 times in the same vocation and getting your hero to Lv 99. Revocating 10 times is not necessary. Here is how you can check for the quality of blue treasure chests in your grotto. I'll be using my map Ruby Glacier of Death Lv 89 as an example. First, go to this site: http://www20.atpages.jp/dq9tools/tmape.cgi And we'll select Ruby Glacier of Death Lv 89 from the lists. Don't worry, the lists are in English. Ignore the last box for now, we'll fill that out later. So, just hit the button. You may get more than one link for your map name. This time we only got one, so we are lucky. But if you got more than one. Look at the last line in the description, you'll see 28 and 0B highlighted. Those are the map location numbers. If you click on them, you'll see where the grotto appears on your world map. 0B is where my grotto appeared. The last box that we ignored was the location number. But you can just open your DS and keep clicking the links until you find the correct location. There usually aren't very many location links so it won't take much time to figure out which one is yours. In this description is says: S:2 A:7 B:3. Those are the chest ranks and how many of each appear in the grotto. It doesn't mean only B to S ranks appear and you can see the full treasure count by clicking the kanji next to where it says MAP. And you'll see: S:2 A:7 B:3 C:3 D:2 E:4 F:4 G:0 H:1 I:1. So we basically have every chest rank in this grotto except for G which is useless anyways. It meets the minimum requirements because it has at least 2 S and A rank chests inside. I also went to the grotto to have a peek and it's an Ice grotto which is great. We know it's an Ice grotto because it says Glacier in its title and Glacier means 100% Ice grotto. That's not always the case. You might get something like a title that says World, where it could be almost anything and you may have to check. Now, let's click on MAP. We'll get a layout of the grotto. The two kanji like symbols on the map are for the stairs. All of the chest ranks are labeled with their respective letters. So B1, B3, etc are all B rank chests. So now you know the location of all of the chests and their respective ranks. You can map out your treasure raiding path, ignoring the chests that have low ranks and also other chests that are really out of the way. Since S rank chest are so rare here, you need to go out of your way to get them. But since we have so many A rank chests, if there is one that is really out of the way, we can ignore it. Unfortunately, the last S rank chest here is on the B16, so that means we have to finish this grotto each time we do a treasure raid. But if S ranks stopped at say, B10 and we also collected like 5 A rank chests, we could just cast Evac and leave after B10. You do not have to fight the boss if you don't want any more maps. Just get to the boss floor, cast Evac, close your map, reopen your map, and continue with your treasure raid. It will take a few days to get everything but it's still possible and not nearly as tedious as it sounds. There are far more tedious things in this game and treasure raiding for the weapons is not one of them. Addendum: Some may want to use the grotto identifier to figure out which boss they will fight. If so, here is the kanji for each boss (as depicted on the site): ![]() FIREFOX: When you open the page with the maps that you want, go to View then Character encoding, and change from Western to Japanese (Shift_JIS). If that one isn't in the list then click on more encodings then East Asian then Japanese (Shift_JIS). OR Go to View then Character encoding then Auto-Detect then Universal. INTERNET EXPLORER: After you are on the map page just right click anywhere on the page, click Encoding then Japanese (Shift_JIS). If it is not on the list click More and look for Japanese (Shift_JIS). OR Right click on page, click Encoding then Auto-Select. Before: ![]() ![]()
